Getting onto Fort Drum is going to be a little easier, as two additional gates will open to relieve recent traffic congestion.

Starting on Monday, January 30th, gates will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. The gates will be closed on weekends, Holidays and DONSA’s.

Only valid DoD ID Card holders will be allowed to access these gates.

The old Nash Gate at NYS Route 26 will open for in-bound traffic only. Out-Bound traffic will not be allowed to exit. The gate is located directly across from the current Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield/Munns Corners gate.

In a release, Fort Drum officials say they hope to ease traffic congestion along NYS Route 26.  The other gate opening is located off of NYS Route 3A in Deferiet adjacent to the Ammunition Supply Point. This gate will provide an alternate route to the airfield.

The other six access gates will remain unchanged.

Mt. Belvedere, Iraqi Freedom, Gas Alley and Wheeler-Sack gates are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Black River gate is open Monday through Friday 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

45th Infantry gate is open Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
