Former Ft. Drum soldier arrested on murder, kidnapping charges

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A decorated former Fort Drum soldier is accused of murdering a woman in his native state of Delaware.

Local media reports say 24-year-old Dwight Smith is being held without bail and is not only charged with murder, but he's also charged with kidnapping.

Authorities in Delaware say they believe he abducted the victim from her home, but they haven't said if or how the two are related.

Smith did two tours of duty in Afghanistan. He is a Purple Heart recipient.
