A Fort Drum mother who submitted a photo to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation camping photo contest was awarded runner up.

Over 1,200 photos were submitted among six categories. Laura Sullivan of Fort Drum submitted a photo of her son with his catch in the Adirondacks, winning herself a weekend stay at any state campground.

Wednesday afternoon the state's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced the winners of the 2011 Camping Photo Contest showcasing top images of New York's scenic outdoors.

The grand prize winner, Rolf Warncke of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, won a free week-long stay at any state campground for his photo of a canoe at Rollins Pond.

Other runners up included:

·        Chris Podosek of Buffalo for his night-time image of a tent at Treman State Park

·        Melissa Benham of East Rochester for her photo of stone steps at Letchworth State Park

·        Amy Trudeau of Malone, for her photo of Meacham Lake at sunrise
