A Private First Class with the 10th Mountain Division has been arrested for aggravated DWI after she was observed driving with a blown tire, smoke emitting from the car and erratically on the roadway.

Wednesday evening, Sheriff’s patrol received a report of a driver heading on State Route 12F that was “all over the road” towards the airport. At that time deputies located a black Honda Civic that matched the description and began swerving across the center line. The arresting officer also noticed a strong odor of burning rubber, heard the sound of a flat tire and noticed the front bumper was ripped off.

Upon pulling over the vehicle the deputy quickly noticed that the passenger side tire was blown, there was distinct smoke coming from the front of the vehicle and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver.

While questioning 21-year-old Private First Class Symone A. Spires, with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, of Heather Acres Apartments in Watertown, she admitted that she was at the Pewter Mug and had “drank some drinks” called “Adios Mother ‘expletive’.”

Later in the investigation, deputies learned that she had in fact struck a guard rail with her vehicle prior to her arrest.

Private First Class Spires failed all sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DWI. During her transport to intake, Spires proceeded to urinate in the back of the patrol car. During her processing she also urinated on the floor, unaware that she had done so.

She is charged with Aggravated DWI with a BAC of .18, misdemeanor DWI, Failure to Use Designated Lane, and Failure to Keep Right.

Private First Class Spires will answer to these charges at a later date.
