Alexandria Bay -- Nicole Kirnan, Owner of the Thousand Islands Privateers Hockey Team, posted a message on the team's Facebook page with the news that the club is going to sign a Fort Drum Soldier to the squad.

Kirnan's message said, "Received an email from a soldier last week stating that it is his dream to play in a pro hockey game. We are so privileged to share that this
Ft. Drum soldier will be playing for the Privateers this Friday. Per the request of the US Army, we are not able to divulge the soldier's name or rank ahead of time, but fans come out on Friday and recognize this hero as he fulfills his dream of playing in a pro game...."

Kirnan also mentioned the team would hold a press conference Thursday morning announcing the soldier's name and additional information on his new role as a Thousand Islands Privateer.

The Privateers play the Delaware Federals Friday night at the Bonnie Castle Rec Center. The puck drop is at 7:05.
