This week the North Country and the Fort Drum community will welcome home approximately 500 3rd Brigade Combat Team (BAC) soldiers.

Over the last 12 months, the brigade partnered with Afghan security forces (both Army and Police forces), in the Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. The 10th Mountain troops and Afghan security forces worked to secure portions of the province.

In the middle of March, the 3rd BAC will be handing over authority to the 4-82nd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, as the remainder of the brigade makes their way home.

Welcome home ceremonies for the returning troops are scheduled for the early Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening on Fort Drum.
