Three Upstate New York Soldiers killed by roadside bomb in Afghanistan

(Nathan Lehman WTNY) - Three Upstate New York soldiers have died in Afghanistan. The soldiers were members of an Army reserve unit based out of Watertown.

Army Specialists Brett Gornewicz of Alden and Ryan Jayne of Canisteo, along with Staff Sergeant Dain Venne of Port Henry, died over the weekend when their armored vehicle hit a roadside bomb. A fourth soldier from their unit survived the blast but was injured. The soldiers were assigned to the 497th Engineering Battalion.
