Heart disease is the narrowing of the small blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the heart and can be prevented in many cases.

According to the American Heart Association, these are the leading factors that put you at risk for coronary artery disease or a heart attack.

  • Age
  • Being male
  • Family history
  • Race
  • Smoking
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Excess weight
  • Diabetes

This week on Live Right Now, Catherine Rivers, R/N Nurse Manager at Carthage Area Hospital, will be discussing heart disease and prevention.

Each week Live Right Now, brought to you by Carthage Area Hospital health experts, will outline a new health topic and discuss how to maintain your health.
