Hartford, Conn. (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim stole some of the spotlight following his team’s loss to UConn Wednesday night in Hartford when he called an ESPN reporter an “idiot.”
When ESPN’s Andy Katz asked the Hall of Fame coach about the series between the Orange and Huskies, traditionally two of the Big East Conference top teams, Boeheim responded:
“I’ll answer anybody’s question but yours, because you’re an idiot and really a disloyal person.”
After a protracted pause and a sniff, Boeheim continued:
“There are a few other things I could add, but I’m not going to go there.”
The Orange lost 66-58 to UConn when they met for the last time as Big East Conference rivals.
SU’s next game is Saturday when it will play Seton Hall in New Jersey at 8 p.m.
