(SU ATHLETICS) - Senior quarterback Ryan Nassib was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after a record-breaking performance against Northwestern on Saturday. The senior broke multiple school and BIG EAST records after completing 45 of 66 passes for 482 yards in SU's season opener against the Wildcats. Nassib also threw four touchdown passes in the game.

Nassib led the Orange in scoring 28 unanswered points against Northwestern after being down 35-13 at the beginning of the third quarter. He recorded 512 yards out of SU's 596 yards of total offense. His total yards of offense are the best by a Bowl Subdivision player in the opening week of the 2012 season.

Not only did Nassib set the Orange single-game records for completions (45), attempts (66), and yards (482), the West Chester, Pa. native tied the BIG EAST completion record and broke the BIG EAST single-game pass attempts record. His 482 yards sits at fourth on the conference's single-game chart.

His four touchdown passes against the Wildcats has moved him to second on the SU career touchdown passes list with 48.

The Orange play Southern Cal. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at MetLife Stadium in New York's College Classic (3:30 p.m., ABC50).
