Prior to completing its second practice at Columbia University for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, the Orange enjoyed breakfast at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square. Shamarko Thomas, got to ring the opening bell.
"It was pretty cool," Nassib said. "It was nerve wrecking. They told us it that only four or five people have messed it up since they started doing it in 1995. I wanted to make sure I wasn't the sixth."
Nassib, who earned a dual degree in finance and managerial accounting from Syracuse in May 2012 and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in accounting, was the SU representative who rang the bell. Nassib was accompanied by his fellow captains on the platform that overlooked the stock exchange floor.
"It's weird you learn about this in class all four years and then you show up and you are here," Nassib said. "It's actually really cool."
Syracuse faces West Virginia in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 29th at Yankee Stadium (3:15 p.m.; ESPN). The Orange will play in its second Pinstripe Bowl in three years this Saturday after defeating Kansas State in the 2010 Pinstripe Bowl, 36-34. Even though he wasn't a part of the 2010 Pinstripe Bowl, sophomore
Brandon Reddish has experience playing at Yankee Stadium.
"I played my high school city championship game against Lincoln High School at Yankee Stadium," Reddish said. "We won, 8-6. It was a great experience being there. My friends and family were there for that too and I'm expecting the same for this game"
