There are many decisions to make when shopping for a car. One of the first is deciding between a big or a small car. Although this sounds like an easy choice, there are many factors involved. The main factor is usually financial: how much money can you afford to spend on a car? Most people buy small cars because they're cheaper and less expensive to own. Small cars tend to get better gas mileage, they're easier to drive and park, and repair costs are generally lower. Also, because smaller cars are so popular, small-car manufacturers usually offer more model choices than large-car manufacturers. Although small cars may be cheaper, big cars are safer. Large vehicles are heavier, and their bigger size absorbs more crash forces, helping protect passengers during a collision. If you have a large family, big cars are more comfortable on long road trips. The extra room is great for kids to play and move around in. Before you decide to buy a big vehicle, however, make sure it fits into your garage. Many older garages weren't designed for larger pickups or SUVs (S-U-Vs). In the end, your choice of a big car or small car depends on a combination of finances, family needs, and safety requirements. For more information on car sizes, consult an automobile professional.
