Alexandria Bay (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- Recovery crews have found the body of a man believed to have drowned over the weekend in the St. Lawrence River.

The search began Saturday night in the Town of Alexandria after emergency dispatch received reports of a man in the water yelling out for help near River Hospital. A search began, but was then called over early Sunday morning. The search resumed later in the day and ended at around 1 pm with the discovery of a body.

The identity of the person has not yet been released by authorities. He is described as a man in his early 20's.
