Canton man arrested after gas drive offs at local Stewarts Shop

Potsdam -- Thursday afternoon Police in Potsdam received a report from Canton Police that they had 42 year old Patrick Eller of Canton in custody on an arrest warrant that was issued by the Potsdam Village Court.

The warrant was for two separate incidents that Eller was involved in. The first incident took place on January 6th at Stewarts where he refused to pay $64.71 is gasoline and drove off. The second incident also took place at Stewarts on January 13th where he again refused to pay for gasoline totaling $42.36. An employee at Stewarts recognized Eller from the previous incident and attempted to stand in front of his vehicle so he couldn’t leave. Eller then put his vehicle into drive forcing the employee to step back and he once again left the scene. The employee was not injured.

Eller was arrested for Reckless Endangerment 2nd and 2 counts of Petit Larceny. He was
Arraigned by Village Justice Pignone and was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000.00 cash, $20,000.00 bond.
