Watertown— This Saturday, December 8th, dancers from the Rhonda's FooteWorks dance school will perform their annual Holiday Surprise production for Team Joey. Joey is a young boy who is battling lymphoma and all the proceeds from the performance will be donated to help him.
At 5:00 p.m., the littlest dancers will do a Santa's Workshop Pre-show. Followed by a visit from Santa and some special surprises. Also, the lobby will be open and feature our huge holiday silent auction and a 50/50 raffle ticket area.
The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. on the main production, "A Holiday Surprise." This show features The Company dancers and Level II dancers. It tells the story of a little girl, visiting NYC for the first time with her family, who gets lost.
The show is open to the public and there is no admission charge however, donations for Team Joey will be gladly accepted. All silent auction and 50/50 proceeds will also benefit Team Joey. ABC50 spoke with owner of Rhonda's FooteWorks, Rhonda Foote who has been here in the North Country for over 26 years. Ms. Foote grew up dancing with her mother who also owned a dance studio. After her mother passed away battling cancer, Rhonda has made it her mission to help those suffering from the disease.
According to the National Cancer Institute, “It is estimated that 9,060 men and women (4,960 men and 4,100 women) will be diagnosed with and 1,190 men and women will die of Hodgkin lymphoma in 2012”
Rhonda's FooteWorks was established in 1987 and the Outreach Company was founded in 2005. Since 2005, the dancers have raised over $15,000.00 for local children with medical needs and assisted with countless outreach events. The company's motto is, "using our talents to assist those in need in the communities we live in".
