The Cape Vincent Fire Department is asking for donations to help with the expected huge crowds this weekend at the funeral for slain EMT Mark Davis.

At least 1,500 fire and EMS personnel are expected to attend the service Saturday at 1 pm at the Thousand Islands High School. A reception for emergency personnel is being held at three locations following the service: the Cape Vincent Fire Department, Cape Vincent United Methodist Church, and the American Legion.

The Cape Vincent Fire Department Auxiliary will need a large quantity of food for the reception and is looking for donations of main food staples, coffee, and paper goods. Anyone wishing to donate should call Jeri Chapman of the Cape Vincent Fire Department Auxiliary at 654-2346.

Davis was killed Friday night in the line of duty when Christopher Burke opened fire on responding emergency personnel following a call to his residence. He is currently being held without bail.
