A Monday morning fire damaged a water bottling facility in northern Jefferson County.

Workers at Frontenac Crystal Springs in Clayton returned from a coffee break to find a bottling room filled with smoke, said 1st Assistant Fire Chief Mike Solar, who also works at the plant.

He said the room is used to bottle 5 gallon bottles of spring water and contains bottling machinery.

Firefighters from Clayton, Cape Vincent and Depauville put the flames out quickly, containing the flames to the one room.

There was no danger of dehydration among firefighters as they sipped from bottled water supplied by the company.
