Fort Drum soldier found dead in barracks

A Fort Drum soldier was found dead in his barracks room over the weekend, according to Fort Drum Public Affairs.

Private First Class Andrew G. Rawls was found deceased on Saturday, May 2. He was an ammunition bearer with the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat team.

Rawls home of record is Plant City, Florida. He joined the U.S. Army in January 2008, and after completing training at Fort Benning, Georgia, came to Fort Drum in May 2008.

Rawls' awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

The circumstances surrounding the death of Rawls are under investigation.

He will be missed by alot of people. He was a very spectacular person and it just doesn't make any sense to us yet that he is gone. His family is in our prayers and may he rest in peace. The Washington Family
