Gouverneur (WWTI) -- A Gouverneur woman was arrested Monday morning, charged with committing Welfare Fraud that dated back to 2009.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested 42 year old Brenda Miller after an investigation was conducted by the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services. It's alleged that Miller submitted a Food Stamps Benefits Application/Recertification to the Department of Social Services that contained false information. From that application, Miller is said to have received $4,688.76 in Food Stamp and Medical assistance that she was not entitled to.

According to officials, Miller received those benefits from April 2nd, 2009 to September 30th, 2009.

Miller was arraigned in the Town of Fowler Court and is currently being held with bail set at $2,500.
