High winds and dry conditions fueled Tuesday's fire on Pillar Point
Pillar Point (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- Dry conditions are being blamed in part for the rapid spread of a fire Tuesday afternoon that scorched land around Pillar Point.
The fire call first came out just before 5 pm on County Rt. 59 in the Town of Brownville. Close to a dozen departments responded to the scene to fight the blaze, which is believed to have started in a tractor which was in a hay field. The dry conditions and high winds helped the fire spread. No injuries were reported and no buildings were damaged.
The investigation into the fire is continuing.
