Lewis County man charged with sexually abusing a minor

Watson (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- A 21 year old from Watson has been charged with sexually abusing a minor.

Timothy Bates of the Erie Canal Rd., was arrested Sunday by State Police on charges of third degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

It's alleged that Bates had sexual contact with a 14 year old female in the Town of New Breman over the weekend.

Bates was arraigned and ordered held in the Lewis County Jail on $2500 cash bail or $5000 secured bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday evening.
