Lightning damages WWTI transmitter, air signal is down while repairs are made
Watertown -- As a result of what appears to be a lighting strike, WWTI ABC50 has taken it's transmitter off the air for repairs.
This will effect viewers only who receive either WWTI's ABC or CW signals over the air or by DISH or DirectTv. Time Warner Cable viewers are not effected.
Engineers were on sight all day Saturday working on the transmitter but were unsuccessful in keeping the transmitter on. A review by engineers discovered that it appears that either the tower or antenna took an lighting strike some time over the past two weeks which caused a number problems inside the WWTI digital transmitter.
Engineering consultants along with the necessary parts to make the repair are expected to be at the transmitter sight on Monday June 25th.
