An Ogdensburg drug dealer has been sentenced to life in federal prison.

Terry Joe Murray, 51, was sentenced Monday in federal court in Syracuse.

He was convicted at a jury trial for operating a drug conspiracy in St. Lawrence County during 2006. Murray was one of six people conspiring to distribute powdered cocaine and crack cocaine, according to prosecutors.

Drug task force and DEA agents raided Murray’s home on Jay Street in Ogdensburg in November of 2006, seizing a large quantity of drugs as well as two BMW automobiles, an ATV, and a snowmobile. The home was outfitted with an elaborate video surveillance system.

He was found to have distributed more than 50 grams of crack and over five kilograms of power cocaine. A kilogram is slightly over 2 pounds.

Murray's five co-defendants pled guilty previously.

Authorities say Murray obtained the drugs in Syracuse and Rochester and distributed it to customers and other dealers in St. Lawrence County.

Murray has three prior felony convictions, according to prosecutors.
