(WTNY/WWTI) -- Early estimates by retailers on earlier store openings for Black Friday are that it was a success.
Some stores opened hours before midnight on Thursday. Analysts say the move attracted non-traditional holiday shoppers as well as the more perspicacious bargain hunters who save on "Black Friday" deals.
More families were involved and purchased more than just the "doorbuster" sale items. The new hours are expected to be a Thanksgiving night staple for more retailers next year.
