Watertown (WTNY/WWTI) -- Sheriff John Burns say he will personally lead an internal investigation involving a deputy sheriff and the possible misuse of a Jefferson County Sheriff's Department patrol vehicle.

Sheriff Burns was quoted saying, "An unfortunate incident occurred" on December 1st.  He said
the incident involved a patrol vehicle assigned to k9 handler Adam Hallett and
that traffic laws were violated.

Published reports only hint that a Sheriff's Deputy found Hallett asleep in his patrol vehicle along the side of a highway while Hallett was not on duty.

No charges were made and Hallett has not been suspended.
