The girlfriend of Stockholm homicide victim Daniel Simonds has hired a well known civil liberties attorney, according to
The Daily Courier Observer.The newspaper quoted New York City attorney Stanley Cohen as confirming that he represents the woman, whose name has not been released out of concerns for her safety.
Cohen told the paper the girlfriend is a Native American and a member of the St. Regis Mohawk community.
She is believed to have resided at the Porter Lynch road home where Simonds was shot and killed.
Investigators found an estimated 140 pounds of processed marijuana and nearly $60,000 in cash on the property. They also found marijuana plants growing in the basement.
Cohen has been best known for representing Palestinians accused of terrorism.
Simonds, 31, was shot and killed early Tuesday morning at the entrance of his home. Sheriff's Investigators believe three men participated, and call the incident a robbery/homicide.
