The village of Canton may host a demonstration reminiscent of the famous "Boston Tea Party" that helped spark the American Revolution.
Organizers are hoping to make Canton one of about 300 communities to participate in a National Tea Party Day on tax day, April 15th, to protest runaway government spending.
Nancy Foster, Republican Committee Chairwoman of the town of Louisville is helping organize the event but emphasizes it is non-partisan in nature.
"Any party affiliation, man, woman child, we are all affected. Particularly our youth. We are going to be leaving them with an unsurmountable debt," Foster said.
Details as to exactly when or where the Canton event will be held are still being worked out. A college group is also involved in the planning, Foster said.
"I think the American people are growing increasingly angry with the runaway congressional spending," she said.
In the 1773 Boston Tea Party, tax protesters dressed as Native Americans boarded British ships and threw a cargo of tea into the Boston harbor to protest England's tea tax in colonists.
