Three North Country Foster Parents will be honored by local Foster Care agencies with Change Of A Lifetime Awards.
Tonight, Tracy and Mike Stephenson, of Jefferson County Department of Social Services, Sandy and Walt Weidner, of the House of Good Shepard and Tammi and Mike Otto, of The Children’s Home of Jefferson County will all be honored at the Foster Care Appreciation and Change Of A Lifetime Awards Dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn in Watertown.
The awards are presented in recognition of the Foster Parents’ outstanding dedication and commitment to children and the Foster Care program.
Each May, National Foster Care Awareness Month provides an opportunity to focus public attention on the plight and potential of children and aging out teens in Foster Care.
Thousands of dedicated Foster Families, caring individuals, and organizations already support young people in Foster Care. Thanks to these individuals, many formerly neglected or abused children and teens will safely reunite with their parents, cared for by relatives, adopted by loving families, and/or make a successful transition to independent living. The child welfare community encourages every citizen to do something positive to change the life of a child or young adult by serving as a Foster Parent.
