Update: Infant dies after Amish Buggy struck by vehicle
Lowville -- A nine month old dies as a result of an accident Tuesday morning in Lewis County involving a car and an Amish buggy. The infant and mother were both on the buggy when they were hit from behind by a vehicle operated by 27 year old Lace Northrup of Lowville.
The accident happened on Rt. 12 in the Town of Harrisburg at around 8 am. Police say Northrup failed to see the buggy and struck it in the rear. The infant later died at University Hospital in Syracuse. The mother suffered a minor leg injury.
The investigation into the crash is continuing and charges are pending in the case.
