A Sergeant with the 10th Mountain Division has been arrested on Criminal Sex Act charges.
State Police in Watertown have arrested Sergeant James N. Costigan, 32, of James St. in Calcium, on two counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st, class B Felonies, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor.
It is alleged that over the course of 2012, Sergeant Costigan had oral sex with an 8 year old female and 5 year old female.
The incidents occurred in the Town of Leray.
The children are in the care of Jefferson County Child Protective Services.
Sergeant Costigan was arraigned and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond pending Grand Jury action.
Sergeant Costigan is enlisted with the 1st Brigade Combat Team. He joined the Army in October 1999, and has been stationed on Fort Drum since 2011.
