Canton (WWTI) -- Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:30, Theron H. Butterfield, age 81, of Potsdam, was driving west on the Morley-Potsdam Road in the town of Canton when he lost control of his vehicle on slush covered roads and slid sideways into the path of an oncoming car driven by 48 year old Larry A. Felt, of Canton.
Butterfield's vehicle was struck on the passenger side where passenger Thomas T. Butterfield, age 51, of Canton, was sitting. Thomas T. Butterfield died at the scene and Theron H. Butterfield was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Felt was uninjured in the collision.
Canton Fire and Rescue, along with Morley Fire Department, responded to the scene.
