Two volunteer firefighters lost their home to fire Saturday evening.
Flames broke out in Andy and Tissy Adams' mobile home on the Ashland Road in Three Mile Bay shortly before 7 p.m.
No one was home, as Mr. and Mrs. Adams were attending a function at the fire hall, said the department's training officer, Bill Woofter.
Mr. Adams is a past assistant chief on the Three Mile Bay department and Mrs. Adams is also a member, Woofter said.
The couple's three children were also away at the time.
Three Mile Bay, Cape Vincent and Chaumont fire departments had the blaze under control after about an hour but the home and its contents are a total loss.
The investigation centers on an oil-fired furnace, Woofter said.
A fundraising effort to assist the family will be announced this week.
