20 year old Gouverneur man accused of breaking into over 20 cars

Gouverneur (WTNY) -- A Gouverneur man has been charged with theft for allegedly stealing from vehicles within the village.

On Monday Gouverneur Police arrested 20 year old Richard Cyrus, charging him with several counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth and fifth degrees. Cyrus is accused of taking items from almost two dozen vehicles Sunday night and into Monday morning. Items taken include wallets, purses, electronic equipment, and firearms. A search of Cyrus' apartment found some of the stolen items.

He was arraigned and ordered held in the St. Lawrence County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
