Cape Vincent is gearing up for the annual celebration of the towns French history with the 44th French Festival (La Fete Française).
Each year thousands of people flood into Cape Vincent to enjoy French foods, music, vendors from across New York State, waterfront scenery, children’s games and activities and more.
The highly anticipated event brings revenue to many area businesses, with people traveling from across the country and neighboring Canada.
“Cape Vincent’s 44th Annual French Festival promises to be a great weekend to gather together with family and friends to celebrate the area’s French heritage,” Shelly Higgins, executive director of the Cape Vincent Chamber of Commerce told MyABC50.com
On Friday, July 13th Cape Vincent will kick off the 44th Annual French Festival with a block party in front of the Cape Vincent Fire Hall, located on Broadway St., starting at 7:30 p.m.
Then on Saturday July 14th, beginning at 8 a.m. vendors will open their tents for business and the French Festival Committee and TI Booster Club will be selling French bread and French Pastries at the Fire Hall on Broadway Street.
“The citizens of Cape Vincent welcome all visitors to the festival as honorary citizens. You don’t have to be French to have a wonderful, memorable experience,” said Mrs. Higgins.
A gala fireworks display will begin at dusk, around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The fireworks will be ignited from the Breakwall on the waterfront resulting in a spectacular show reflecting off the St. Lawrence River.
On Sunday, July 15th the arts and crafts show and sale will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be also be an antique car parade at 1 p.m. “Eli” the 1917 ambulance will be in the lead and there will be antique tractors, cars, trucks and motor vehicles of all kinds.
