Six new cases of Swine Flu have been confirmed in Jefferson County in the past week, bringing the total number to 38, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

The cases involved five children and one adult, all of whom have fully recovered.

Since H1N1 virus surveillance began in April, 186 people have been screened for the disease, leading to the 38 confirmed cases.

While there are currently no cases pending for state confirmation, there continues to be ongoing transmission of the virus, officials said. At the same time, the usual seasonal strain of the Flu is on the wane.
