Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Monday, December 17th – 8:00 – 10:00 PM

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" returns again this week a new holiday special episode featuring Ty Pennington and the team of designers. The Friday family episode airs on Monday. A nine-year veteran of the police force and foster mother to over 30 children, Devonda Friday and husband James didn't think twice when they got a call to provide temporary care to a boy being transferred to a group home. They had no idea this call would change their lives. The teenage boy showed them a video of his siblings, begging them to help keep the five of them together. Before they knew it, Devonda and James were making room for all the youngsters to join their own two children.  Now "EMHE" will celebrate the spirit of Christmas by giving the Friday family a new spacious home for the holidays. 

A Charlie Brown Christmas - Tuesday, December 18th – 8:00 – 9:00 PM

Celebrate the joy of the holidays with the classic animated Christmas-themed PEANUTS special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas", created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. In the digitally-remastered 1965 special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that he sees everywhere during the Christmas season. Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant, and Charlie Brown accepts, but it proves to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little fir Christmas tree fails, Charlie Brown needs Linus' help to learn what the real meaning of Christmas is. 

This Year with Katie Couric - Wednesday, December 19th – 9:30 – 11:00 PM

From the highs and lows in Presidential politics to the major news events like Superstorm Sandy, the Aurora massacre and the resignation of General Petraeus, from the headline-making celebrity romantic breakups and shakeups to the Royal Jubilee and the scandals that rocked Buckingham Palace, 2012 has been an eventful year. Anchored by Katie Couric, ABC News and PEOPLE Magazine collaborate on an entertaining two-hour primetime broadcast special, with details on these and all the other big stories of the past year... the breakout heroes from the Olympics, the everyday heroes who inspired a nation, the public figures who fell from grace, and the icons who said goodbye after years of success. Couric's reports will include interviews with newsmakers, celebrities and other guests who have a uniquely humorous take on the past year's top stories. "The Year with Katie Couric," a Special Edition of "20/20," begins at 9:30 PM on Wednesday night.

Some of the most powerful and emotionally moving voices in music come together to celebrate the holidays on "CMA Country Christmas," Thursday night. Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland hosts for the third year. Artists on the two-hour special celebrating the season with songs and stories include Dierks Bentley, Colbie Caillat, Katherine Jenkins, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Nettles, The Band Perry and Keith Urban.

Back to the Beginning with Christiane Amanpour - Friday, December 21st – 9:00 – 11:00 PM

ABC Movie of the Week: The Sound of Music – December 23rd – 7:0011:00 PM

"The Sound of Music," the original classic starring Julie Andrews, brings its special magic to the holiday season when it airs in HDTV with 5.1-channel surround sound as the "ABC Sunday Movie of the Week," this week.  "The Sound of Music," which garnered 10 Academy Award nominations, won for Best Picture, Best Music, Scoring or Music, Adaptation or Treatment; Best Director, Best sound and Best Film Editing. Julie Andrews, who had won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role the previous year for "Mary Poppins," was again nominated in that category for her portrayal of Maria, a probationary candidate to join an order of nuns.
