Addie Russell wants to stiffen penalties for Mark's Law violators
Albany (WTNY) -- The battle to get Mark's Law passed in the Assembly has taken another turn.
The original author of the bill, Assemblywoman Addie Russell has added provisions such as stiffening penalties for people who help criminals get guns and limiting public disclosure of information on pistol permits holders. This is added on top of the original provision to make first degree murder for the killing of an emergency first responder.
The changes have surprised State Senator Patty Ritchie, who would like a look at the revised bill, which is named for slain Cape Vincent EMT Mark Davis.
