Watertown -- (WWTI/WSYR-TV) Parts of Northern and Central New York saw record breaking temperatures Sunday. The warm air couldn't have been timed any better, with many people home from work to celebrate Veterans Day, it will give them a chance to do some last minute tidying up outdoors before winter.
The cause of this unusual weather is a warm front that has lifted to our north, ushering warmer air from the south. We’re keeping an eye on a cold front that will be inching its way towards us. As it does, winds will increase from the south. Wind advisories have been put in place for Monday afternoon and night for Jefferson and Lewis Counties, where gusts could reach 50mph. This could cause localized to scattered power outages.
Rain arrives Monday night and will change over to snow by Tuesday morning. High pressure quickly builds in and quiets and cools our weather for the remainder of the work week.
