A "No More Taxes Tea Party" will be held in Gouverneur on April 15th.

The venue is in addition to the one being held in Canton about the same time.

Nationwide, an estimated 300 communities are holding the "tea parties" to protest government taxation.

The event in Gouverneur is scheduled at the village park on Main Street (Route 11) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate.

While no tea will be thrown into the water during the events, the "tea parties" are modeled after the 1773 Boston Tea Party in which tax protesters threw a cargo of tea into the harbor to protest the British tax on tea.
