It seems a lot like a State Senate version of the television show Wife Swap.

Not necessarily by agreement, State Senators Darrel Aubertine and Cathy Young swapped districts for a day.

The two could be considered arch rivals. Senator Young, a Republican, is a frequent critic of Senator Aubertine, a member of the Democratic majority.

On Wednesday, Senator Young's office announced she would meet with area dairy farmers the following day at Old McDonald Farm near Sackets Harbor.

Young, the ranking Republican on the Agriculture Committee, is pushing a bill to use stimulus funds as an interim bolster for milk prices.

Meanwhile, Senator Aubertine issued a release on Thursday, announcing that he had visited several farms in Western New York. Coincidentally or not, some of them are in Senator Young's district.

Aubertine is the Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Aubertine's release thanked Senator Young for visiting his district.

"Though unable to be with Sen. Young in the North Country, his office did offer its assistance if needed for the visiting Senator," Aubertine's release said.

"I'm pleased Sen. Young has taken the time to meet with farmers in Northern New York because it's important to recognize we are on the same side - the side of our farmers," Aubertine said in the release.
