Canton (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- A visitor to the campus of St. Lawrence University is facing charges in connection to a shots fired incident at the school early Wednesday morning.

Canton Village Police say they received a call of shots fired just after 3 am Wednesday at the SLU Golf Course. A 9mm handgun with ammo and a shotgun with ammo were both recovered.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of 22 year old Zachary Parker of Wilton, Maine. He is charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second, third, and fourth degree.

Parker was arraigned and ordered held in the St. Lawrence County Jail on $3500 cash bail or $7000 bond. Police do not believe Parker and others at the scene were targeting people with the guns.
