Lowville -- An arrest has been made in connection to a hit and run accident involving a pickup truck and an Amish buggy in Lowville last week.

The sheriff's department says 50 year old Steven Waite of Carthage turned himself in to police Tuesday evening. It's alleged that Waite was behind the wheel of the truck that was traveling north on Rt. 12 Thursday evening when the truck struck the buggy and then fled the scene. No injuries were reported. Waite was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury to an animal, speeding, following too closely, and failure to use due care when approaching a horse.

He was given an appearance ticket and will answer the charges at a later date.
