An Ogdensburg-area man has been arrested for attempted robbery after a Sunday evening incident in the parking lot of WalMart.

Other subjects are believed to have been involved, but haven't been arrested yet, according to Ogdensburg City Police.

The incident happened about 9:40 p.m. and involved an altercation with the victim receiving minor scratches, said Detective Dan Mousaw.

Lawrence Grenier III, 32, of State Route 812 has been charged with attempted robbery and was being held for a city court appearance.

Detective Mousaw said items were recovered from the scene but wouldn't confirm a Watertown Daily Times report that said a gun was used in the robbery attempt.

Grenier was arrested about 3 a.m.

The victim is being cooperative with police, Mousaw said.

Grenier has had frequent brushes with the law in recent years.

In September police said he was stabbed repeatedly in the chest by another man in a drug related incident.

In 2005 he led police on a chase starting at Belmont Courts in Ogdensburg and ending in the town of Oswegatchie.
