A bomb scare closed the Walmart Supercenter in Lowville Thursday afternoon.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department was notified at approximately 3:25 p.m. that a bomb threat had been telephoned to the store.

Investigators said Walmart followed their procedures and evacuated the store, securing the building until police arrived.

The store was searched completely but no explosive devices were found.

The store re-opened about an hour later.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Rumble or Sgt. McIntosh at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 376-3511.
