Fort Drum— For some that may not know, Bookoo is a hot buy and sell online platform that launched just 8 years ago in Kingswood, Texas. ABC50 interviewed co-founder Adam Allgaier who started Bookoo with his brother Austin, both consider themselves die-hard yard sale fanatics.
Adam and Austin Allgaier launched Bookoo in their mid-20’s, both young and unassuming; they did not expect the site would take off as it did. There are now online Bookoo communities all over the world. Bookoo is geared towards any user, but it is mostly used by military families. The Allgaier’s wanted to take the yard sale experience online so that users could have the yard sale experience anywhere. One great feature is Bookoo’s mobile app, which allows users to buy and sell from their cell phone with swiftness and ease.
The military communities have been very eager to adopt this for their base and post. Bookoo is eager to give back to the military. Until November 12, Bookoo is donating $3 to Operation Homefront, for every new person that posts an item for sale on Fort Drum, Bookoo. Accounts are free to open for all users. Free account users can post up to 10 items to sell, however premier members for just $8 a month can sell unlimited amounts of items.
Bookoo is a strong advocate for furthering ones education. They have chosen 12 Bookoo locations to help 1 military member or spouse who wants to further their education. Bookoo is reviewing qualified applicants in Fort Drum area who seek to further their education. One military member or military spouse will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards a school of the recipient’s choice.
Adam told ABC50 “We love the military and we enjoy helping them in any way that we can. They serve and protect our country, the least we can do is give back in some way.” Military members or military spouse can apply for the scholarship the deadline to submit the application is November 11, 2012.
