A Canadian trucker was stopped at the Wellesley Island Border Crossing with child porn in his vehicle on Thursday.
35-year-old Michael J. Elliott of St. Thomas, Ontario was charged by State police with 17 counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, according to the Watertown Daily Times. During a routine inspection by U.S. Customs officers, 64 photographs were found in the tractor.
A subsequent search revealed digital images on his cell phone, and three computer discs having undetermined content were seized for a continuing investigation, police said.
Elliott was arraigned in Orleans Town Court and ordered held in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building in lieu of $10,000 bail.
