Fire caused by careless disposal of stove ashes damaged a home in Castorland this morning.
The fire at the home of Steve and Bobbie Marra and three children on Church Street in the Village was reported just after 8 am by a neighbor. Castorland fire with mutual aid from Beaver Falls and Lowville responded.
The home and its contents suffered moderate damage. The property is owned by Ebert Eberly of Naples, Florida and is covered by insurance. No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators traced the cause to hot ashes left on the back porch which rekindled and spread.
