Ellisburg -- One person was injured and a second was charged following a hunting accident over the weekend in the Town of Ellisburg.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened Saturday morning on the wooded area along Woodpecker Lane. Forty year old Gerald D. Wells Jr. of Hannibal was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon. Sheriff's deputies say Wells is accused of possessing a muzzle loader rifle, a violation of his probation.

The unidentified victim was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with serious injuries
