Charles Schumer cracks down on Telemarketers
Nathan Lehman WTNY -- New York Senator Charles Schumer is introducing legislation that toughens the penalties for telemarketers violating the "Do Not Call list".
Schumer says the Federal Trade Commission has received a rise in complaints of unwanted telemarketers. Schumer's legislation would bring penalties from a misdemeanor to a felony. Technology allows one person to make millions of pre-recorded calls with the click of a mouse.
