There were some public discussions during last night's council meeting. There is a sense of optimism in ongoing discussions on bringing the Thousand Island's Privateers hockey team to Watertown next season. The Federal Hockey League has given the team some additional time to make a decision on where to play after a Monday deadline came and went. Locker rooms remain the main stumbling block in the ongoing negotiations. The city has offered the team use of the locker room at the Fairgrounds Ice Arena, but with the stipulation that the team remove all their equipment after each game and place them in a storage trailer. The council also concluded budget discussions by lowering the proposed tax levy increase down to 1%. The council is expected to vote and approve the budget May 31.
